Briggs on Finley: "He's an idiot"

Lance Briggs heats up the feud between Chicago and Green Bay with some harsh comments today for Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, who said the Bears are better off without Brian Urlacher.

Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs took issue with the comments of Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, who said the Bears are better without Brian Urlacher, who is recovering from a strained hamstring.

"Urlacher is at the end of his career right now; he's playing a little slow out there," Finley told Fox Sports Wisconsin on Wednesday. "I don't think they're losing too much if he's out. Putting another guy in might help them a little."

Briggs disagrees.

"He's an idiot," Briggs said today. "Suit up and play ball. His comments aren't going to change the outcome of the game. They're not going to help him or anybody play better. It doesn't really matter."

Even though he took issue with Finley's comments, he said it won't change the way he or the team will approach Sunday's contest.

"It's a personal opinion," he said. "It doesn't change the way we're going to play."

Briggs' comments come a day after receiver Brandon Marshall talked in detail about his disdain for the Packers.

"I don't like the Green Bay Packers," said Marshall. "I'm not going to use the word hate, but I really dislike the Green Bay Packers and their players."

Briggs said he has similar feelings about Chicago's NFC North rivals.

"I feel the same way," Briggs said. "I have a lot of respect for their team and their players and their accomplishments. But it doesn't matter. I don't like the Packers."

The Bears have lost eight out of their last 10 contests against Green Bay, including the last five in a row, which is part of the reason Chicago's players have been so testy this week.

"In this rivalry right now, they've been beating us up as far as the win-loss column," said Briggs. "You get sick of it. You just get sick of it. We're going to play this game like it's our last."

The Packers can clinch the division with a win on Sunday.
