Lions Sign Blaise; Place Two On IR

The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday morning that they have signed offensive lineman Kerlin Blaise, a six-year veteran who spent the previous five seasons with Detroit.

The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday morning that they have signed offensive lineman Kerlin Blaise, a six-year veteran who spent the previous five seasons with Detroit.

Blaise will help add depth to an offensive line that required it, but can also play both the tackle and guard positions.

Blaise beat out another former Lion, Tony Semple, for the open offensive lineman position.

To make room on the active roster, the Detroit Lions placed rookie cornerback Rod Babers and veteran wide receiver Shawn Jefferson on injured reserve, effectively ending their season and also opening another roster slot.

The Lions have expressed an interest in recently released Browns' WR Kevin Johnson. However, according to league sources, Johnson wants to latch on with a contender.
