(ALLEN PARK) - The Detroit Lions today signed veteran safety Brock Marion to a four-year deal with terms undisclosed.
Marion, 33, 5-11, 208-lbs is an 11-year veteran and is expected to join an aging safety corps including holdovers Brian Walker (31), Bracey Walker (33) and Terrence Holt, a second year player from North Carolina State.
Detroit was able to get Marion, a quality player who probably has at least one more year of solid play left in him, at a bargain basement rate according to sources close to the negotiations.
A press release confirming the signing is expected this afternoon in lieu of a press conference. Detroit is also entertaining linebacker Ian Gold, a native of Belleville, MI this afternoon. Former Buffalo Bills standout Ruben Brown visited Allen Park yesterday.
