Lions Enter Draft With Re-Signing Flurry

Posted Apr 22, 2004

After some inactivity, the Detroit Lions have re-signed three players prior to the draft.

Entering this weekend's draft, the Detroit Lions are still attempting to plug as many holes as possible -- and that means re-signing key veterans.

On Wednesday, the ball club re-signed veteran linebacker Donte Curry to a one-year contract, terms were undisclosed.

Curry will enter his third consecutive season with Detroit as a critical special teams leader, and his fourth year in the league.

In just 11 games last year, Curry tallied a second-best 21 special teams tackles with the ball club.

Earlier in the week, the Lions re-signed four-year wide receiver Scotty Anderson and kick return specialist Reggie Swinton.

A former fifth round pick of Detroit, Anderson has displayed glimpses of brilliances, but has been hampered by injuries and inconsistency.

Swinton, meanwhile, joined the Lions several weeks into the 2003 season, making an immediate impact by placing fourth in the league in punt return average. He also returned a kick and a punt for touchdowns.
