Lions' head coach Steve Mariucci listed the obvious. Linebacker Boss Bailey, cornerback Fernando Bryant, and rookie LB Alex Lewis. Those names will not dress for Saturday's contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bailey being the most notable, considering the extent of his injury (he's expected to miss 10-12 weeks). Bryant, another starter, is still nursing a hamstring injury and likely won't return for another week. Lewis recently twisted his ankle, and is also expected to miss most of the pre-season.
Many other players are question marks, too, including Dre' Bly and rookie running back Kevin Jones.
"The guys that are probably out: Dré (Bly) and Kevin Jones," said head coach Steve Mariucci. "We're hoping that (tight end) John (Owens) can play. We'll determine that as it gets closer.
"Tomorrow morning we're going to talk about it with our front office when we do our participation exercise and talk about how much each guy is going to play and how we are going to substitute, but the ones I mentioned as out are certain. The guys that haven't practiced much, I hesitate to play them."
