Infirmary Report: Kennedy "Questionable"
The most obvious is the injury to backup quarterback Jeff Garcia.
On Wednesday, Lions' head coach Steve Mariucci's injury report was brief, listing Garcia (6-8 weeks/broken fibula) and Schlesinger (3-4 weeks) as obvious no-go's for Sunday's contest, and tabbing starting quarterback Joey Harrington (groin) as "probable."
While there is a better chance of Detroit forfeiting the season opener than sitting Harrington, the news wasn't as certain for two other Lions.
Strong safety Kenoy Kennedy, nagged by a hamstring injury for the past two weeks, is listed as questionable, but it's very likely the key off-season acquisition could be scratched from the line up. Kennedy has practiced sparingly as the team would like to take it easy on him, but they also don't want to take a chance compromising his health -- or the secondary as the team readies for Packers' quarterback Brett Favre.
If Kennedy doesn't play, he will be replaced in the lineup by veteran Bracy Walker.
Second-year linebacker Teddy Lehman, meanwhile, is still dealing with a bothersome knee injury. Lions' doctors don't feel the injury is a major concern (nor similar to fellow linebacker Boss Bailey's knee condition), but Lehman is listed as doubtful and will likely be held out of the opener.
