Porcher could Play

Lions' defensive end Robert Porcher suffered a hyper-extended right knee last weekend, but it might not prevent him from playing against Chicago on Sunday. Check out our insider notes on Porcher, and several other Lions, as the team gets ready for the struggling Bears on Sunday!

Corey Harris
SS Corey Harris is battling a lingering knee injury but said he expects to play in the Lions game Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Champaign, Ill. Although he is not 100 percent physically, Harris has been one of the Lions few standout defensive players this year with 69 tackles (including 52 solos) and a number of big plays, including an interception and two forced fumbles.

Kalimba Edwards
DE Kalimba Edwards is in line for the second start of his rookie season if DE Robert Porcher (knee) is not able to play Sunday in the Lions game against Chicago at Champaign, Ill. Edwards has been used with increased frequency as an outside pass rusher and occasionally even drops in coverage, but might have trouble at the point of attack at DLE if the Bears decide to pound the ball that way.

Luther Elliss
DT Luther Elliss didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but coach Marty Mornhinweg is hoping he will get enough improvement in his sprained right ankle to be able to play in the Lions game Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Champaign, Ill.

Robert Porcher
DE Robert Porcher missed the Wednesday and Thursday practices but coach Marty Mornhinweg isn't ruling him out for the Lions game Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Champaign, Ill. Porcher is the Lions sack leader with five and is the Lions most consistent defensive lineman but suffered a hyper-extended right knee last Sunday against the Jets. It is likely James Hall would move from RDE to LDE and rookie Kalimba Edwards would start at RDE if Porcher cannot go.

Jimmy Hitchcock
CB Jimmy Hitchcock was claimed by the Lions off waivers when he was cut by New England, but the team changed its mind about signing him after Hitchcock completed a physical on Thursday. The Lions declined to say if Hitchcock has a physical problem but he played 16 games in each of the last four year and apparently had no injuries at New England, where he was inactive every game this season.
