ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions announced the termination of head coach Rod Marinelli on Monday, less than 24 hours following the team's completion of the league's first winless season.

Interestingly, the team kept some of the coaching staff in place, including offensive coordinator Jim Colletto -- who will be re-assigned as an offensive line coach.

Defensive coordinator Joe Barry was also let go, along with assistant OL coach Mike Barry, secondary coach Jimmy Lake, and defensive line coach Joe Cullen.

Marinelli finished just 10-38 in three years after being hired by former GM Matt Millen out of Tampa Bay, and one just once in the last 24 games dating back to the 2007 season.

In the press release, the team also stated that Vice President Tom Lewand would be promoted to team president, and interim GM Martin Mayhew would assume full control as General Manager.

It's unclear whether or not those roles will be maintained as Detroit proceeds into the off-season, or if the Lions will do their homework, and bring in additional help for player and organizational evaluations.

Dave Boller, who worked as the Assistant Director of Pro Personnel, was also fired.
