Lions head coach Jim Schwartz discussed the injury bug that struck Detroit on Monday.

The Detroit Lions suffered a few injuries during Thursday's practice, the most notable occurring during 7-on-7 team drills to rookie tight end Brandon Pettigrew.

The 6-6, 260-pound tight end suffered an injury to his quadriceps and hobbled off the field.

Schwartz dismissed the injury as nothing serious, however. More tests would be done Tuesday morning to evaluate Pettigrew's status, which is currently listed as day-to-day.

"(He) has a little thigh issue going and we are having him looked at this morning, but don’t anticipate it being anything more than day-to-day," said Schwartz.

Defensive back Eric King, who figures to see the field often in Schwartz's defense (King was a carry-over from Schwartz's Tennessee defense a year ago), also left practice with an injured foot.

Both King and tight end Casey FitzSimmons (ankle) will be day-to-day.

"Both of them want to be back as quickly as they can," said Schwartz.
