| Biography: |
| Used physical gifts and solid ball skills to quickly develop into one of Chicago's starting cornerbacks during his rookie season. Starter in 20 of 24 career games despite missing half of the 2004 season with a knee injury, he is tied with Mike Green and Jerry Azumah for the team lead with 13 PBUs over the previous two seasons. Tallied 133 career tackles with one sack, two TFLs, four INTs and two forced fumbles. Made immediate impact in his first season in Chicago, becoming the first rookie to lead the team in interceptions since Mark Carrier led the NFL with 10 in 1990. Took over the top cornerback position early in his rookie season and quickly developed into one of the team's top playmakers on defense, recording his first career INT in his fourth career start. Combined with LB Lance Briggs to mark the first time Chicago rookies recorded an INT in the same season since LB Brian Urlacher and S Mike Brown in 2000. Voted as the veteran recipient of the 2003 Brian Piccolo Award by his teammates. Named NFL Rookie of the Year and an All-Pro by Sports Illustrated while receiving the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honor from Football Digest. |
