Fourth round choice of the San Francisco 49ers in 1959, traded to the Cowboys in 1960 before joining the Browns in 1963... Went to two NFL Championship games with the Browns (1964,1965), winning the championship in 1964... Became one of the top offensive line coaches in football after his playing days were over... Went immediately from playing to working for Don Shula as an offensive line coach during the Miami Dolphins glory years (1970-5)... Coached Larry Little and Jim Langer in Miami, both went on to the Hall of Fame... Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers (1976) and Detroit Lions (1978-84)... Coached in college ranks at California, Stanford (under Bill Walsh).... Son Bryan played quarterback in the NFL for San Francisco, Cincinnati, and Miami between 1982 and 1985...
