WR Derrick Williams: Beginning to Show Flashes by Nate Caminata of RoarReport.com, August 8, 2009 at 12:14pm ET

Derrick Williams is finally starting to catch on.
Slowed by a hamstring injury during the spring workouts, the third-round pick simply blended in the first few days of training camp -- a contradiction in style to the reason why he was drafted.
Known for his style and flash on the field, the former Penn State standout has rebounded in recent days, throwing a block to spring a running back for a touchdown, and on the receiving end of a couple of touchdown passes in goal-line situations.
The coaching staff has been impressed by his separation from defenders, a reason why he was drafted as both a return man and slot receiver.
"I thought it wasn’t just in this last practice, he’s put about two or three together in a row and he’s in pretty good shape," said head coach Jim Schwartz on Friday. "He’s starting to show up a little bit more."
Williams is still in contention for return duties. Veteran cornerback Philip Buchanon has been the primary return guy on both punts and kicks. Expect that to change over the weekend.
